As I was working with a client today it became abundantly clear that most of the issues with sleep have so little to do with going to bed and falling asleep and more to do with how we live our day-to-day life. we live in a world where it is expected of us to be able to handle anything that life throws in our path. However, that is not necessarily true. We have not been taught how to handle the day-to-day stress is in a productive way especially during the changes that occur during the pandemic.

The first thing we should look at is how do we handle our days. Do we create time for ourselves to unwind and relax? Or do we start working from the moment we get out of bed until the time we go back to bed and even sometimes in the middle of the night? During this pandemic, we have lost our boundaries between our work life and our home life. And now we need to create those boundaries again.

The first step is to create a morning routine as well as a nighttime routine. We need to separate ourselves from I will work since we no longer commute. When we get out of bed in the morning, we should take 20 minutes to 30 minutes 2 meditate and spend time focusing our mind on what we want to accomplish. we also need to get outside and get fresh air and sunlight for our health enter ability to better focus.

In the evenings we need to step away from work and give ourselves time to unwind which is more productive than just plugging into TV. We need to spend some time relaxing our muscles, focusing our minds, and tapping into the creative energies that we do not get to use during the day. Creating a 20-to-40-minute bedtime routine will help to do that especially when we spend that period every day doing similar activities. This allows our brain to disengage from work and we can fall asleep faster.

When we start to create a life that has a separation between our work and our personal life, we will find that our health improves. I would encourage you to look at your day-to-day life and see where you can make small changes that will help you to improve your sleep and your productivity during the day.
